I am a published author, and frequently write about sexual violence and survivor identity, Latinx/Hispanic identity, and LGBTQ identity, as well as media criticisms on the portrayal of women. I bring together a passion for grassroots organizing and multimedia storytelling, and I believes in the power of stories to mobilize action and catalyze movements.
For my first book, “We Believe You: Survivors of Campus Sexual Assault Speak Out,” published by Henry Holt, I traveled across the United States interviewing and collecting essays from a diverse group of over two dozen survivors of campus sexual assault for an original anthology. My goal in putting together We Believe You was to center the voices of survivors, and to illustrate that each survivor journey is far from linear, and that the violence itself is not the beginning or the end of our story.
I also have several feminist theory and personal essays published in various anthologies, and welcome every opportunity to partner with other authors.
